About the project

Movies have become even closer: tickets find viewers where it is convenient for them

Planeta Kino is a brand that builds a complete digital infrastructure around the viewer. They were the first in Ukraine to launch online ticket sales, a mobile app, electronic admission without paper tickets, and their own streaming platform. But the company's strength lies not only in technology, but also in its mindset. Planeta Kino understands that modern viewers want more than just service; they want movies that are available wherever they are. That is why the next logical step is to take tickets beyond movie theaters and open new points of contact with the audience.

The client's problem

Planeta Kino wanted to enable external partners to sell tickets directly at offline points of sale: banks, theater box offices, tourist locations. But the format of cooperation with such agents required new technical solutions: the system had to take into account dozens of variables and work without failures.

Key challenges:

  • There was no single tool for connecting third-party partners to the ticket system.
  • Sales rules changed frequently, so flexible logic was required: agent types, discounts, limits, geography.
  • A full audit of actions was important for transparency and resolving disputes.
  • The technical architecture had to withstand high loads.

The solution was designed to enable agents to sell tickets quickly, conveniently, and without risk to the core infrastructure.

Case information

Universal API for ticket sales agencies

  • To give external partners access to ticket sales under a complex set of rules, the client approached us for a solution that would be scalable, secure, and flexible to configure.

  • Our approach:

  • We started with an important Discovery stage: we identified key stakeholders, gathered requirements, analyzed the market and similar API solutions. Based on this, we formed an architecture that allows centralized management of agent types, limits, discounts, and geolocation. Due to the high load, we chose a framework with maximum performance. Additionally, we implemented a flexible logging system that allows us to record the actions of each agent in detail and quickly find the necessary events in controversial situations.

Work results:

  • After launching the new agency API, the company was able to sell tickets outside its own website and app. Tickets became available at external points of sale: tourist attractions, ticket offices, banks, and stores. The system works stably under load and gives the team control over every transaction.

  • Our client received:

  • scalable API for external agency sales;

  • centralized configuration of rules, limits, agent types, and geography;

  • high productivity thanks to the chosen technology;

  • a logging system for full auditing of all agent actions;

  • the ability to quickly connect new points of sale without risk to business logic.

  • The new tool paved the way for offline sales and gave tickets the freedom to move beyond cinema box offices.
