Power BI was designed for the mass market so that an analyst without extensive training could launch their first dashboard within a week. Tableau was built with a different logic; from the start, it targeted a different audience: data analysts, analysts with SQL experience, and teams that need not just visualization but in-depth data analysis.\r\n\r\nHence the capabilities: complex calculations at the level of detail (LOD expressions), which in Power BI require non-trivial DAX, are handled via the interface in Tableau.
